Update

It's about time for a second blog entry I think... As you can see, this site is still a work in progress, slowly but surely I'm getting photos resized for my gallery here.
It's about time for a second blog entry I think... As you can see, this site is still a work in progress, slowly but surely I'm getting photos resized for my gallery here.

In the meantime, I will tell you something about my photography. When I was 10 years old, my parents bought me a camera for my birthday. Nothing fancy, but enough to have me taking pics of anything that interested me. And of course, most of these pictures haven't seen the light of day since they were taken, it wasn't exactly what you'd call art, not even good snapshots.

A year ago, a friend of mine directed me to
deviantart.com where he displays his photos. Not onIy did I discover his photography, but also the wonderful art of fractals, and photos from many other people. Seeing their work made me feel inspired to go out in the world and express my own creative side.

At first I borrowed my parents' compact camera. All very fun, but I didn't bother to read the manual, so I soon got frustrated with the (seemingly) limited options. So I ended up buying a Sony Alpha DSLR in april this year, together with a Sony 18-200 lens.

Well, I can tell you that a whole new world opened up to me! I knew absolutely nothing technical about photography. ISO, diafragm, shutter speeds... All Chinese to me. I've been learning so much these past months, using auto mode less and less. And I do believe I'm getting better. I've been exploring macro photography a lot lately, and apart from that, any kind of photography that doesn't involve people.

And mostly I've been spending soooo much money... I own 4 lenses already (one second-hand one for a bargain price fortunately, a monopod and a tripod. I'm going to buy a teleconvertor soon. I'd love to buy an external flash, and a ringflash. And I would love to start experimenting with filters. *sigh* This an expensive hobby... I'll have to find a job with a good income just to keep up with this hobby Winking

By the way, if you have ideas for what I could blog about in my next entry, feel free to comment here or send an e-mail. I won't bite Winking

Till next time,
